A new large-scale study has found strong links between adherence to the Mediterranean diet and improved cognitive function in adults over 50. Participants who followed the diet closely showed measurably better memory and processing speed.

Researchers attribute the benefits to the diet's emphasis on healthy fats, whole grains, and antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables. The study followed over 12,000 participants across five years.

Nutritionists are encouraging patients to incorporate more Mediterranean-style meals into their weekly routines.
