Researchers at Stanford University have published findings showing that a diet rich in fermented foods significantly improves gut-brain axis communication within just eight weeks. Participants who consumed kimchi, yogurt, kefir, and sauerkraut daily showed measurable improvements in mood regulation and cognitive focus.

The study tracked 320 adults over six months, with the fermented-food group demonstrating a 34 percent increase in microbial diversity compared to the control group. Scientists noted that specific Lactobacillus strains appeared to play a key role in producing neurotransmitter precursors.

Nutritionists recommend incorporating at least two servings of fermented foods per day to support gut health and mental well-being.
