Lou Malnati's, the beloved Chicago deep dish institution, has announced plans to open its first West Coast location in Los Angeles this fall. The restaurant will be situated in the Arts District neighborhood downtown.

The expansion marks a major milestone for the family-owned chain, which has operated primarily in the Chicago metropolitan area since 1971. The signature buttercrust pizza with its exclusive sausage blend will remain unchanged.

LA's thriving food scene and large Midwest transplant population made it a natural choice according to CEO Marc Malnati, who said the company spent two years scouting locations before settling on the Arts District space.
