A landmark study published in the Journal of Nutritional Science found that consuming fermented foods daily for 12 weeks significantly improved markers of gut-brain communication in participants aged 25 to 65.

Researchers observed a 34 percent increase in beneficial gut bacteria diversity and measurable improvements in mood, sleep quality, and cognitive function among the fermented food group compared to controls.

The study's lead author recommends incorporating kimchi, yogurt, kefir, or sauerkraut into daily meals, noting that even small servings of two to three tablespoons showed meaningful benefits.
